There are several changes that you and your family can make if you want to be more energy efficient.

First of all you can change all the light bulbs in your house to energy efficient bulbs. This will help to make your electricity bills lower.

You can also make sure to unplug and turn off all the appliances that you are not using. There are several appliances that you can not be turned off like your television. However, if you do not use other appliances very often then there is no reason to have them plugged in all the time. Think about how often you have your toaster or microwave plugged in and just sitting there. If you do not use them very often then you need to make sure that not only turn them off but unplug them. This will help to shave your energy bill.

There are many other simple things that you can do to cut your energy bills. Rather than turning up the heat whenever you are cold, just put on a sweater of cuddle up with a blanket. Rather than turn up the air conditioning when you are hot just take off a few layer or open a window.

Replace any leaky faucets that are in the house. Leaking water can raise your water bill and change them is a simple and easy solution. You are also saving gallons of water from being wasted. You can also runoff water from your shower and sinks to water your garden.
